Ryo sighed as he opened his eyes, seeing the beauty beside him. It’s been three days since he started sleeping in Tatsuya’s room, on Tatsuya’s bed, by Tatsuya’s side, ever since Tatsuko entered their live, well literally. It’s not that he didn’t like to sleep on Tatsuya comfy bed because the bed was really, really comfortable, it just he was afraid of getting too comfortable, that he didn’t want to leave when the time comes. And he definitely is not going to allow that to happen. He just can’t.

Not to mention that Tatsuko was obviously trying to torture him. Not in front of Tatsuya, of course. But she always watch him like a hawk, which making him uncomfortable. Then, she also had a sharp tongue which sometimes left him speechless.  No wonder donkey face can take a hold against me, especially with a sister like that, Ryo thought. And it’s rather obvious the over protectiveness that she held onto Tatsuya, just like a mother lion to her cub.

Knowing that he can’t sleep another wink, he decided to get up and prepared breakfast. Might as well show his sister-in-law that he’s good enough for her little brother. Not that he really wants to, of course, he consoled himself. He just wanted to prove to Tatsuko that he’s not a bad guy. And anyone who manages to married to him should be considering lucky, he thought with a pride.

Half an hour in the kitchen, he manage to make a decent traditional Japanese dishes for breakfast. Satisfied with his work, Ryo began to set up the table. “Hmm, something smells delicious.” He heard. When he looked up, he saw Tatsuya was leaning at the wall which separates the kitchen and the living room. Ryo smirked at the compliment. Tatsuya walked towards Ryo and kiss his cheek, an action that he gotten used to do since his sister started to live with them.

Suddenly Tatsuya was grabbed by the waist and found that Ryo’s lip onto him. “Your sister is coming, might as well show her our affectionate, ne.” He heard Ryo murmured before being kissed senseless by Ryo. Yes, we need to convince Hime’s sister that we’re in love that’s why we’re doing this, Ryo said in his mind. Of course he was just trying to convince himself because these past few days, somehow he had become addicted of the sweet taste of Tatsuya’s lips. 

“Ehemm…” Instantly, they broke up at the voice coming from across the table. Well reluctantly in Ryo’s part and in embarrassment in Tatsuya’s part. Although he knew his sister was coming in, but still getting caught being ravished by his ‘husband’ definitely not his way to start his morning.

“Ne-chan, good morning!” He greeted, hiding his embarrassment and discomfort behind a smile. Ryo just smirked looking at Tatsuko while Tatsuko glared at him as Tatsuya went to retrieve their morning coffee from the coffee maker.     

“So…” Tatsuko started. “So...?” Ryo asked, raising the eyebrow. Suddenly Tatsuya shrieked, as he quickly finishes of his breakfast. “Sorry guys, I love to stay and chat but I’m going to be late since I have morning practice today.” Tatsuya said, as he dash out of the kitchen, preparing his things before going to work. Suddenly he steps in the kitchen giving Ryo a quick kiss on the lips, “I’ll see you later at the Jimusho, love. Bye ne-chan, see you tonight.”

Ryo stood and began collecting the dishes to wash them while Tatsuko just watched Ryo’s every move. Although he felt uncomfortable with the stared but he ignored it. After he finished with the dishes, he turned to walk out of the kitchen only to stop when Tatsuko spoke her mind about him.

“I don’t like you, Nishikido. I hope you know that.” Tatsuko said. Startled, he turned to face Tatsuko. “Look, I have done nothing, and I mean nothing to warrant your dislike towards me. It’s not my fault that Tatsuya forgot to tell you about me. We’re in love, and it’s normal if he forgets such things but don’t blame me or him because of the love that we felt toward each other. Besides, you’re not being fair to him. Do you know that he always had this sad looks when he thinks about you, because you don’t approve of the man of his choice? And you call yourself his protector, when all this while it’s you who make him sad. ” Ryo said, voicing his thought. Although the first part of his speech not quite true, but all he said about Tatsuko’s attitude and Tatsuya sadness were true. After all, he’s the one who saw Tatsuya cried silently in his sleep, mumbling forgiveness to his older sister.

Tatsuko gaped at the accusing words of Ryo. All this while, she was determined to find faults in Ryo, she hadn’t realized she had hurt the one she cared the most. She narrowed her eyes, not quite believing what Ryo had said. “What do you mean by that?” Ryo growled in frustration. Why does this woman being difficult, he thought. “Did you know that your dear little brother was crying in his sleep, asking for your forgiveness and approval? Did you know that Tatsuya always has this faraway looks when we mention about you? No, of course you don’t, because you’re so set at finding my fault than to support your beloved brother. Is that what you really want? Isn’t his happiness enough for you to give him your support?” Ryo almost hissed angrily at the last question. He and Tatsuya may not see things eye to eye but he still has a heart. And he was quite aware that Tatsuya was saddened by the fact that none of his family members support him, albeit it’s just a not-so-willing marriage.   

“Look, I don’t care if you don’t like me. Hell, I don’t ask for your approval for our marriage. But for Tatsuya’s sake, please, just at least tell him you’re not mad at him anymore. He loves you, you know. And I can see that your approval means a lot to him, so please, just grant him this one wish.” Ryo said as he walked out from the kitchen, satisfied that he has said all the things he wanted to say.

Tatsuko sat dumbfound at what had just happen. She had never realized that she had hurt her brother so much that he cried in his sleep asking for forgiveness. She remembered, the last time her brother cried in his sleep was when he was in Junior High School, when their father was mad at him because of his poor performance in school. She remembered the time she spent in her brother’s room, consoling him, telling him that their father did not hate him. She remembered how she’s the one who dried the tears that fall downs his cheeks when he’s asleep. And now, now, she’s the one who make her brother shed those tears. What have I done, she thought to herself, what had I become? I promise myself the he will never shed the tears again, yet I’m the one who cause them. I promise Tat-chan, from now on, I’ll support you, she thought with a resolution.  

Suddenly, she heard a crash at the living room. A few seconds later, Ryo came into the kitchen, face stricken-panic. Tatsuko just raised an eyebrow, asking silently what it is. And then, the words seem to be coming out slowly from Ryo’s mouth.

“Tatsuya met an accident. He’s in Tokyo General Hospital now. I thought you might want to come too.” Ryo said, as he already set to go. Tatsuko quickly jump on her feet, and took her coat with her. On the way out, she kept on praying for Tatsuya’s safety.
